Everyone who stays at La Muse or at one of the cottages may use the library (above), dining room, and kitchen. In the daytime, quiet hours are strictly enforced throughout the house, but in the evenings writers and artists may spend time cooking or visiting with each other. La Muse has hosted musicians, composers, painters, and writers from countries including Australia, Hungary, India, New Zealand, and the United States, to name a few.

In addition to the community that gathers each month at La Muse, many writers and artists have settled in the region; owners Kerry Eielson and John Fanning often serve as a bridge between members of the retreat and local residents (many of whom moved there after staying at La Muse).
