Writing for Stone Soup:
Send your work to Stone Soup, Submissions Dept., P.O. Box 83, Santa Cruz, CA 95063, USA. (Contributors from outside the U.S. and Canada only may submit via email.) If you don't hear from them in four to six weeks, this means that they are not considering your work. But they do urge you to try again. They advise writers, "Send us stories and poems about the things you feel most strongly about!" Find more info on their site.
Writing Sample, from "Zitza" by Alexandria Lenzi:
"Zambia thought she’d lived about fourteen Dry Seasons, though she didn’t know for sure. Dry Season seemed to be getting longer and longer lately. This season had been especially arid, and water and food were scarce. The water had sunk into the ground and the plants had shriveled up, killing or driving out all the animals. All but one that is."
