The Notre Dame Review, the Basics:
Published semi-annually by the University of Notre Dame's English Department, the Notre Dame Review offers innovative literary fiction. It has a circulation of 1,500 and has won Pushcart prizes in fiction and poetry. They write that "excellence is our sole criteria for selection, though we are especially interested in fiction and poetry that take on big issues." Past issues have included work by writers such as David Green, Ed Falco, Floyd Skloot, and Marlys West.
Pivotal Paragraph from "Red Molar" by G. F. Michelsen:
Joe Preble looked up. The frosted glass of Fluke's door was dark. Fluke had turned off his radio, but the hiss of static, tiny and treble, was still there. It "was there," was how Joe would describe it best, rather than "I heard it," because he could not really hear it. It was more as if it were living inside his head. His new filling, emerging from under the novocaine, seemed alive with a thin current of broadcast.
