Summer Programs for Young Writers

Wednesday April 29, 2009

This week I received a notice from the folks at Polyphony H. S. about their August editorial workshops in Chicago, which prepare students for leadership roles on the editorial staff of Polyphony H. S., as well as for roles on professional and university-based literary magazines. They have also created a Writer’s Workshop in coordination with StoryStudio Chicago to give students the opportunity to hone their individual writing skills.

But this is only one opportunity available for young adult writers. Gotham Writers Workshop offers classes in NYC and online, in conjunction with Teen Ink. In addition, I understand that registration is still open for Duke's Creative Writer's Workshop and that Columbia's summer programs are accepting applicants as space permits. If you know of other summer workshops, please post them in the comments below.
