The Guardian on Zadie Smith and the Campus Novel
Saturday July 1, 2006
Anyone in the process of writing a novel set in academia will want to check out John Mullan's Guardian review of Zadie Smith's new book, "On Beauty." In it, Mullan looks at how her novel, and academic novels in general, function: "Campus fiction delights in clashes between intellectual pretension and human reality."
He will be discussing the novel with Zadie Smith on July 13 at the Newsroom in London.
