From the article: Leaving Delight
Do you have comments or advice for Zoe? What was particularly good about her adaptation? Are there things that could be improved?
Remains of the Day--Leaving Delight
- I AGREE with the others who commented on this GREAT piece...excellent...the focus and tedium of a man who cannot get out of his cubical--loved the weight and mood of the writing.

Excellent writing!
- I think that this piece captures the mood and tone of "The Remains of the Day" and places it within a modern context. Kazuo Ishiguro has a very distinctive approach in the way that he addresses society in his writing. He pays particular attention to sentence structure in order to create the sense of that very "Englishness" and propriety that the character Stevens epitomizes. I think that Zoe has captured this perfectly in her writing. It would be interesting to see how her version of the story enfolds because during his journey Stevens does in fact become “enlightened” though perhaps not in the way that he would have thought.

Good Writing
- I liked this very much. I haven't read "Remains of the Day," but now I will. You have intrigued me.

Very Well-Written
- I wish I had read Remains of the Day, so I could comment on this more fully. It's very well-written, and I love the title and the humor in your portrayal of the character (especially at the end, when he describes his plan to observe people in their "natural habitat"). I hope someone who's read the book will comment -- I have a feeling there's much to get here, for someone who has.
