Why I Self Published
I've written fantasy stories with word counts that qualify them as novellas. This is a very hard market to break into. I decided to self-publish to start a following until my full-length novel got published the traditional route. The Path from the Shadows is the story of Azlee, a priestess who can interpret visions. She accompanies a band of warriors to destroy a powerful wizard. While on this quest, she experiences love for the first time, though she is forbidden carnal love. When the man she loves gets lost in a realm of evil, will she risk everything to rescue him?
How I Published My Book
I used Outskirts Press. The part with the publishing of the book was fine. The art work was not. I used an illustrator I already knew because to have the publisher do the cover art was much too expensive. They were so picky about the formatting, and every time we thought it was done it had to be done again. It was awful. At times I thought I wouldn't succeed. But I did. They got the text right and the product is professional. And they continue to offer marketing options, many of which require more money. I'd use them again, if the artwork issue can be resolved.
