How to Submit to Glimmer Train

By , About.com Guide

Glimmer Train Basics:
Susan Burmeister-Brown and Linda B. Swanson-Davies started Glimmer Train in 1990 with the simple goal of publishing the kind of fiction they like to read -- and with a healthy circulation of 16,000, their tastes are clearly shared by many. While the quarterly magazine may not be intellectual or avant-garde, they offer good old-fashioned stories, the kind real people, and not just other writers, read for entertainment. Past contributors have included Andre Dubus III, Alberto Rios, and Catherine Ryan Hyde. "We especially appreciate work that is both well-written and emotionally engaging," the editors write.
Submit to Glimmer Train:
Glimmer Train publishes 18 new writers every year, and receives around 4,000 submissions each month. They accept standard submissions in January, April, July, and October, and host contests several times a year. Submit stories online; no simultaneous submissions.
