Raymond Chandler on Style
Planning to go all the way to Los Angeles, I picked up a book of Raymond Chandler's later writings a few weeks ago, none of which I had read before. Besides marveling at the endless metaphors and similes in his fiction, I was interested to read his thoughts on style: "In the long run, however little you talk or even think about it, the most durable thing in writing is style, and style is the most valuable investment a writer can make with his time..."
