Expand/Contract Writing Exercise

Friday June 20, 2008
This week's exercise comes from Alan Ziegler's The Writing Workshop Note Book. Begin by writing a piece of any nature, approximately 50 words long. Expand the piece to 100 words, adding text anywhere: lengthen the existing sentences, start earlier, or end later. Contract it back to 50, again by any means. Repeat. Keep repeating until the fun stops.
