February Short Story Contests, Residencies, and Awards
Tuesday January 1, 2008
I know we've just barely gotten into 2008, but now's the time to be looking ahead. If you're prepared to apply for things now, check out January's short story contests. If not, you're still in plenty of time for some great February opportunities. The Summer Literary Seminars in Kenya and Russia are supposed to be fantastic for those who want to study writing abroad; apply by Feb. 28. For those with an MFA or PhD in writing, the University of Wisconsin offers an excellent chance to get teaching experience and continue writing (they must receive mss in Feb.). And thanks to Ted R. for providing the updated info on the Chicago Tribune Nelson Algren Award, which has a Feb. 1 deadline this year. (View all short story contest, residency, and award deadlines here.)
