While BEA invades NYC's Javits Center, the Guardian Hay Festival will draw writers from all over the world to Britain for a 9-day celebration of language, May 25-June 2. Writers slated to speak include Martin Amis, Alexander McCall Smith, and Orhan Pamuk (one of four Nobel laureates on the billing). Unless you're in the area, this blog will come too late to actually attend the festival, but you can enjoy it virtually via their online archives; you can already access interviews with writers such as Stephen King, Ian McEwan, and Doris Lessing. The festival site has information on next week's activities as well as September's festival in Segovia, Spain.
