2007 Caldecott, Newbery Winners Named

The American Library Association announced the winners of its literary awards at its midwinter meeting in Seattle this week. The Newbery Medal for children's literature went to “The Higher Power of Lucky,” by Susan Patron. The Caldecott Medal for an American picture book for children went to “Flotsam,” illustrated by David Wiesner. The organization also awarded the Michael L. Printz Award to “American Born Chinese,” by Gene Luen Yang, and the Coretta Scott King Book Award to “Copper Sun,” by Sharon Draper.
