Booker Prize Shortlist Announced

The judging panel for this year's Man Booker Prize named the six finalists today: Kiran Desai (The Inheritance of Loss), Kate Grenville (The Secret River), M J Hyland (Carry Me Down), Hisham Matar (In the Country of Men), and Edward St Aubyn (Mother's Milk), and Sarah Waters (The Night Watch). Every shortlisted author will receive £2,500 and a designer bound edition of their novel. The winner, who receives £50,000, will be announced on Tuesday October 10. According to the Guardian, Waters is the current favorite.
