Tuesday July 18, 2006
Bestselling author Mickey Spillane died of cancer yesterday. Born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Spillane's books would end up grossing an estimated 200 million dollars worldwide. The Guardian reported that, "Over the last decades (to his disgust, one suspects) he received increasing critical respect for his contributions to the idiom of crime fiction and for his having played a pioneer's role in the postwar paperback revolution."
