The Believer 2006 Book Award Winner
Saturday March 18, 2006
The Believer magazine announced its second annual book award winner in this month's issue, which I am very belatedly blogging now. This year's award for "the year’s bravest and most ambitious work of fiction" goes to Atomik Aztex by Sesshu Foster (City Lights Publishers). Finalists included Aimee Bender's Willful Creatures, John Wray's Canaan's Tongue, Tom Bissell's God Lives in St. Petersburg, and Trinie Dalton's Wide Eyed. Atomik Aztex is described as "A fantastical gonzo Aztlán mythology, where modern Aztecs and immigrant ghosts uncover blood sacrifice in Los Angeles."
