2005 Grants for Historical Fiction Writers!
Thursday August 25, 2005
The American Antiquarian Society (AAS), a national research library and society of American history, is now calling for applications for month-long visiting fellowships for historical research by "creative and performing artists, writers, film makers, journalists, and other persons whose goals are to produce imaginative, non-formulaic works dealing with pre-twentieth-century American history. Successful applicants are those whose work is for the general public rather than for academic or educational audiences."
AAS provides a stipend of $1,200 per month, plus a travel-expense allowance. Submit an official cover sheet, resumé, two letters of recommendation, five-page project proposal, and 10 copies of up to 25 pages of poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction by October 5. No entry fee. Visit the site for complete guidelines.
