2005 NYFA Application Seminars Happening Now

Thursday August 11, 2005
Take note all New York State writers considering the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Artists' Fellowships for the first time: application seminars are going on now through September across the state. I've attended in the past and found the session highly informative.

In fact, this is a really amazing program for artists of all kinds; whenever I start to grumble about the lack of funding for the arts, I remember the hardworking (and probably underpaid) people at NYFA who not only administer these awards, but patiently walk artists through the application process. Even if you don't think you're qualified, this is a great way to build confidence in applying to grants and fellowships (and besides, you never know--it's always worthwhile to apply). Awards for writers alternate between fiction writers and poets; this year it's fiction writers. For an application and guildelines, see the NYFA website.
